Alien Brood
Each hatchery is monitored by 2 Caretakers which ensure that healthy conditions are maintained as the eggs mature. It takes approximately 17 terrestrial days for the eggs to fully mature and hatch. The resulting clutch of alien spawn voraciously devour any organic material within their reach, including the spilled embryonic liquid and shells from the eggs, and sometimes even the smallest and weakest of their brood-mates. The Caretaker is a 2 meter tall roughly cylindrical creature that is found almost always within alien hatcheries. It floats above the ground upon a suspensor field created from internal gravity generators. Without this field, the Caretake would not be able to move its 200kg body around. We are certain that Caretakers did not evolve naturally, but were instead bred for the specific purpose of caring for the alien young. Each Caretaker carries 2 photon emitters implanted on telescoping eye stems on top of their body. The energy beams produced by these emitters are powerful enough to melt through the strongest of our armors in an instant. A secondary responsibility of the Caretakers is the protection of the eggs and the young alien brood. Although they are not bred for battle, the Caretakers have the extraordinary ability to lay explosive eggs. These eggs have a sophisticated sensory apparatus which allows them to detect any human which approaches within 2 meters of the egg, at which time they explode with a force greater than any Terran grenade. CAF scientists believe the eggs are able to detect and identify approaching humans by the frequency of their heartbeat, though they have never been able to study a specimen to confirm this theory. There is an open bounty for a live Caretaker so the scientists can learn more about how they are able to produce these explosive eggs. All previous attempts at capturing a Caretaker have failed. The most recent capture attempt ended in disaster when 2 soldiers attempted to stun a Caretaker into submission with their stun rods. When the Caretaker lost consciousness, all of the eggs it was carrying exploded.
Alien Society
The Alien society is an amalgamation of races divided into castes of lesser and greater importance. The older alien races slowly grow in prominence and power as new worlds are subjugated and newly conquered races enter into the society as the lowliest of the castes. The most ancient of these races holds the most important of the secrets -- secrets which stem from the earliest beginnings of the alien empire which have been shrouded in mystery for eons. As a squad of CAF soldiers prepare an ambush, a group of alien guards accompany 2 alien nobles of an elder race as they enter a sacrificial hall to worship the most noble one.
Alien incursion at the Airport
The Aliens are protected by an exotic metal alloy which is able to deflect and absorb the damaging effects caused by most terrestrial weapons, including armor piercing, hi-explosive, cryogenic, and even chemical ordinance. Each Alien carries a swarm of Sentinels within its carapace. Sentinels are small organic creatures that, although only lightly protected, are difficult to hit due to their speed and agility. The Sentinels have extremely well developed sensory organs, allowing them to track their targets through a combination of visual, auditory, olfactory, and even infra-red signals. Once an Alien has deployed a Sentinel, it is only a matter of time before its target is tracked down and neutralized. The victim's only hope is to destroy the Sentinel before it gets close.
Landing site
The landing site of a Counter Alien Forces (CAF) air transport which has been sent to counter an alien incursion near a train station. The transport is a quadro engine tactical dropship with a thick ceramic ablative armor shell. The small 6-man tactical squad has formed a defensive circle just outside the ship. During mission planning, CAF Intelligence reports indicated the aliens in the area were equipped with acidic, poisonous weapons. Thus each trooper is protected by a Sludge suit, which provides excellent protection against biological and chemical attacks, but very poor protection against incendiary weaponry. Unfortunately CAF intelligence was mistaken. The aliens sighted upon landing are equipped with incendiary weapons.
